Unmyelinated nerves in cross section
Unmyelinated nerves are generally small in diameter and are not always easily visualized. They do not have the reticulated appearance of myelinated nerves because they lack myelin.
In this image, the perineurium of the nerves is clearly visible, highlighted in blue after using the cursor or clicking. The nuclei observed inside the nerves are mostly Schwann cells, and some belong to endothelial cells of blood capillaries.
Nerve (cross section). Staining: HE. Medium magnification.
