NERVOUS SYSTEM
Ganglia are clusters of neurons of the peripheral nervous system enveloped by a thin layer of dense connective tissue.
Their neurons have usually large cell bodies containing large nuclei containing loose chromatin and voluminous nucleoli. Their cytoplasm often contains small granules that represent groups of cisternae of the rough endoplasm reticulum involved in protein synthesis.
Each neuron is surrouned by a layer of small flat cells called neuronal satellite cells or glial satellite cells, highlighted in whitw/clear yellow in the upper figure.
