CELLS OF THE NERVOUS TISSUE

NEUROGLIA – 3

PROTOPLASMIC ASTROCYTES – 2

The processes of protoplasmic astrocytes can be seen more clearly in preparations in which less metal has been precipitated.
These astrocytes have numerous short, highly branched processes that extend in many directions. Because the processes are so numerous and closely packed, they often obscure the cell body, making it difficult to distinguish its boundaries.
