CELLS OF THE NERVOUS TISSUE
NEUROGLIA – 4
FIBROUS ASTROCYTES – 1
Fibrous astrocytes have fewer cell processes than protoplasmic astrocytes. They are longer and thinner and being less branched they allow a better observation of the cell bodies.
Fibrous astrocytes are found more frequently in the white matter of the central nervous system, whereas protoplasmic astrocytes are more frequent in the gray matter.
