FIBROUS ASTROCYTES – 1

The fibrous astrocytes have fewer cell processes than the protoplasmic astrocytes. Their processes are longer and less branched than those of protoplasmic astrocytes.

Fibrous astrocytes are found more frequently in the white matter of the central nervous system, while protoplasmic astrocytes are more frequent in the gray matter.
