SMOOTH MUSCLE – 4
The figure presents a section of smooth muscle fibers seen ata high magnification. Theirelongated nuclei have rounded ends, and are cigar-shaped.
When smooth muscle fibers contract some of their nuclei assume a spiral shape and look as a corkscrew or a pig’s tail. This kind of image helps to diagnose smooth muscle cells in sections. Observe some of them highlighted in green.
