ENDOSTEUM
The figures show examples of the endosteum:
1 – in the upper figure, lining spaces located between bone trabeculae. The surfaces of the trabeculae are lined by bone cells, primarily osteoblasts (highlighted in dark yellow) and also by osteoclasts (indicated by an arrow) and osteoprogenitor cells.
2 – in the lower figure, internally lining the Haversian canals. The osteoblast indicated in this figure belongs to the endosteum.
