Eosinophils
The arrows indicate eosinophils in the connective tissue. Most eosinophils have a bilobed nucleus, consisting of two nuclear lobules connected by a thin strand of chromatin (not always visible).
Their cytoplasm is filled with numerous large eosinophilic granules. These granules have a strong affinity for eosin, giving the cytoplasm a characteristic orange-red color in routinely stained preparations. These are one of the most useful features tor recognize eosinophils in tissue sections.
