SEROUS ACINUS – 3
Image of a section of a pancreas at a higher magnification than that on the previous page.
Some acini are highlighted by a line when you place the mouse or click on the image. Their sizes and forms are much varied due mainly to the way each was sectioned. Try to distinguish other acini not marked by lines.
The connective tissue located between the pancreatic acini is very delicate and very susceptible to technical artifacts. For this reason, the acini become slightly apart from each other, which makes them easier to observe, but does not correspond their situation in vivo.
Note that the nuclei of the acinar cells are placed at the base of the cells, arranged on the periphery of each acinus, a fact that helps to identify the acini.
