SEROUS ACINUS – 2
The image is of the pancreas, an organ formed by millions of serous acini. At first glance and at a low magnification it is not always easy to distinguish the individual acini.
Examine the image very carefully and try to identify the acini. They are small round or oval structures formed by several cells and they stay very close one to their neighbours. There are dozens of acini in this image. Some acini become highlighted when you place the cursor or click on the figure. Try to distinguish the other acini, in addition to those that are highlighted.
In the center of the image, there is a region with connective tissue that surrounds a medium-sized excretory duct. The connective tissue that supports this duct is highlighted in pink/orange. The rest of the image is composed of serous acini.

Pancreas. Staining: hematoxylin and eosin. Small magnification.
