Some acini become outlined by a black line when you place the mouse cursor or click on the image. Notice that their size and shape seem to vary considerably, mainly because each acinus has been sectioned at a different angle and level. Use the highlighted examples as a guide, and try to identify the other acini in the image.
Notice the nuclei placed at the basal area of the acinar cells, thus, arranged at the periphery of each acinus.
The thin and delicate connective tissue placed between between the acini is very susceptible to undergo technical artifacts during the tissue preparation. For this reason, many acini appear slightly apart from each other, that makes them easier to observe, but does not correspond their situation alive.
