CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM

CEREBELLUM – 4

A small area of cerebellum gray matter contains the layer of Purkinje cells between parts of the granular and molecular layers.
The Purkinje cells are very large neurons, each emitting a thick long dendrite that extends toward the molecular layer where dendrite branches establish synapses with other neurons of the cerebellum.
Cell bodies and dendrites of Purkinje cells highlighted in green, nuclei in light blue, nucleolus in strong blue.

Cerebellum. Staining: HE. Large magnification.
