Purkinje cells are very large neurons. Each cell gives rise to a thick, highly branched dendrite that extends into the molecular layer, where its branches form synapses with other neurons of the cerebellum.
The cell bodies and dendrites of the Purkinje cells are highlighted in green. Their nuclei are highlighted in light blue, and the nucleoli in dark blue.
