ENDOCHONDRAL OSSIFICATION – 2
The vertebrae of fetal rodent’s tails are a very suitable material tor observe endochondral ossification.
The image shows a longitudinal section of one vertebra of a mouse fetus (highlighted in red). Above and below the vertebra are portions of an intervertebral disc (in brown).
The ossification process is already ongoing in this vertebra and will be shown in the following pages.
