COLLAGEN FIBERS – 1
Most of what you see in this image of connective tissue are collagen fibers (some highlighted in blue when you move the cursor or click on the image).
Observe:
– the pink staining of the collagen fibers by eosin.
– the variety of the fiber thickness.
– the diverse directions of the collagen fibers and their rather unorganized arrangement. As will be seen later on, in some types of connective tissues the fibers are, however, highly organized, as in the tendons.
There are also many nuclei of connective tissue cells, which will be studied later.
