ELASTIC AND COLLAGEN FIBERS IN THE MESENTERY
In this stained fragment of a whole fragment of a mesentery, observe collagen fibers (some highlighted in blue) and elastic fibers (some highlighted in white).
The collagen fibers have varied thicknesses, tortuous paths and are stained red or orange by acid dyes, such as eosin, Orange G and Sirius red.
The elastic fibers are very thin, of constant diameter, branched and are stained by special dyes. These fibers are not usually visible after staining with H&E.
