MUCOUS TUBULE – 2
Observe the histological features of a small mucous tubule surrounded by connective tissue.
Its secretory portion has the shape of a tubule and is made up of columnar or pyramidal cells and has a wide lumen. Pay attention to the shape of the mucous cells. Most are columnar and show very clear limits. Their nuclei are located at the base of the cells, close to the connective tissue.
The secretory cells are highlighted in dark blue and the lumen in light blue. Some of their nuclei become highlighted in green after placing the cursor or clicking on the figure.
The excretory duct of this mucous tubule is formed by cuboidal epithelial cells highlighted in brown and the lumen of the duct in yellow.
Note some secretion in the lumen of the tubule and of the duct.
