Remember that transversely sectioned tubes have the appearance of rings. The wall of these tubules is formed by a single layer of cells, whose shape is squete. The cells are probably cuboidal and, the epithelium, therefore a simple cuboidal epithelium.

Kidney. Hematoxylin and eosin. Medium magnification.
The section was subjected to the periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) technique, which highlights polysaccharides. With the PAS technique, the basal membranes on which the epithelium are placed, become much better visualized than after HE staining, and stain in magenta red color.
When you place the cursor or click:
In two of the tubules that are sectioned transversely, the epithelium becomes pink and the lumen of the two tubules and of the longitudinally sectioned one become blue. The basal membranes of the transversely sectioned tublues become highlighted in green.
