WHICH TISSUE IS THIS?
Three very distinct regions can be seen in this image of a histological section.
- a “blank”, unstained upper strip, a space without any content. It is most probably the internal cavity of an organ or the external surface of the body.
- a pink, well-stained middle band, where many nuclei are seen.
- a pink, lighter strained, lower band where few nuclei are seen.

The next page will show a larger magnification of a region similar to that defined by the blue rectangle.
