TRANSITIONAL EPITHELIUM – 2
A very important property of the transitional epithelum cells is their ability to rearrange themselves during the different states of bladder filling.
When the bladder is empty or has little urine, the epithelium is higher and formed by a greater number of layers. When the bladder contains a lot of urine, the epithelial cells rearrange themselves, the number of layers may decrease, the epithelium get thinner and the superficial cells become flat.
