SIMPLE SQUAMOUS EPITHELIUM – 1
This epithelium consist of a single layer of flat, tile-like cells.
The cells are very thin and for this reason it is often difficult to observe their cytoplasm well in cross-sections of theepithelium.
The cell nuclei are generally elongated or elliptical. As they are thicker than the cytoplasm they protrude from the surface of the cell.
The epithelial layer is separated from the connective tissue by a basement lamina.
