REFLECTING ON 3-DIMENSIONS – 5
The sweat glands of the skin are shaped like small hollow tubes whose walls are made up of cells.

In the deepest part of each gland, called the secretory portion, the tubule becomes coiled. For this reason, histological sections of the skin show several sections of each secretory portion although the sections belong to one tubule. Watch in the photomicrograph at the right the sections of one coiled tube.
