BLOOD CELLS
Basophil
In the figure observe the basophil whose nucleus has two lobes that are not heavily stained. Hover the mouse or click on the image to better see the lobes.
The cytoplasm contains many blue or purple stained specific granules. Many granules are seen in the cytoplasm surrounding the nucleus as well as some in the cytoplasm above the nucleus.
In a white blood cell count the amount of basophils in the blood is the very low. They are the rarest cells of a blood smears and very often no basophil is found in a blood smear.
