COLLAGEN FIBERS – 3

These histological sections of connective tissue were stained using trichrome techniques. These stains make collagen fibers especially easy to recognize and are therefore useful for students and for professionals, including pathologists, when examining histological sections.
In the upper image, the section was stained using the Masson trichrome technique. The collagen fibers appear green or bluish-green.
In the lower image, the section was stained using the Mallory trichrome technique. The collagen fibers appear blue and, in some preparations, may also appear yellow.
