\nMucosa of the body region of the stomach.<\/p>\n

Main characteristics:
\n1 \u2013 The surface of the mucosa is smooth, interrupted by small indentations highlighted in yellow. These are called gastric pits<\/strong> or foveolae<\/strong>
\n2 \u2013 Most of the lamina propria of the mucosal layer is occupied by gastric glands<\/strong>, also known as fundic glands<\/strong>, highlighted in blue.
\n3 \u2013 The muscularis mucosae<\/strong> (highlighted in green), composed of smooth muscle, separates the mucosal layer from the next layer \u2013 the submucosa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
