Functions and types"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FUNCTIONS AND TYPES OF EPITHELIAL TISSUE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Main functions of epithelial tissue:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>line the internal and external surface of many organs and of the whole body, protecting them from mechanical forces and from drying<\/li>\n<li>act as barriers separating compartments in the body<\/li>\n<li>secrete and produce molecules either new, that result from synthesis by gland cells, or from modifications of existing molecules.
