{"id":3973,"date":"2017-12-30T17:19:20","date_gmt":"2017-12-30T19:19:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/en-mol.icb.usp.br\/?page_id=3973"},"modified":"2026-08-20T18:24:43","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T21:24:43","slug":"10-2-blood-and-hematopoiesis","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mol-en.icb.usp.br\/index.php\/10-2-blood-and-hematopoiesis\/","title":{"rendered":"10-2 Blood and hematopoiesis"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"su-row\">\n<div class=\"su-column su-column-size-1-1\"><div class=\"su-column-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\"><strong>BLOOD CELLS<\/strong> <\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"su-row\">\n<div class=\"su-column su-column-size-1-2\"><div class=\"su-column-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>The most used way to analyze blood cells using a light microscope involves examining a blood smear, prepared as follows:<br \/>\n&#8211; Blood is obtained by venipuncture or by pricking the skin with a needle or stylet.<br \/>\n&#8211; A drop of blood is placed on a glass slide; another slide placed at the border of the drop is pulled away, dragging the blood, and producing a very thin film of blood cells.<br \/>\n&#8211; The film is left to dry before being stained.<br \/>\nBlood smears are usually stained with mixtures of dyes, called <strong>Romanovsky-type stains<\/strong>.
