Their cytoplasm often contains small granules that represent groups of cisternae of the rough endoplasm reticulum involved in protein synthesis.<br \/>\nEach neuron is surrouned by a layer of small flat cells called <strong>neuronal satellite cells<\/strong> or <strong>glial satellite cells<\/strong>, highlighted in whitw\/clear yellow in the upper figure.<\/p>\n<p>Lower figure: neurons of a ganglion.
