Its nerve fibers were separated using very fine needles and stained to demonstrate myelin.<br \/>\nNerve fibers highlighted in red. Axons are not seen in this preparation.<br \/>\nNotice constrictions along the fibers, some of them indicated by arrows. They are very small gaps between neighbor Schwann cells, the <strong> Ranvier nodes<\/strong>.
