It consists of a single layer of specialized cuboidal epithelial cells, called choroid epithelial cells, that covers a rich network of fenestrated capillaries.<br \/>\nThe choroid epithelial cells produce and secrete cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) into the brain ventricles. CSF also fills the subarachnoid space and the cavities of the spinal cord.<br \/>\nThe epithelium and the underlying connective tissue are extensively folded into numerous villi.
