What is seen in the image are collections of metal atoms precipitated over the astrocyte cell bodies and processes. The yellowish color of the section results from the metal solution used to reveal the cells.<br \/>\nThis section of the gray matter of the brain shows protoplastic astrocytes highlighted in light blue.<br \/>\nThis type of astrocyte has many short branched processes placed very close one to another.
