Their perikaryons are highlighted in green, nuclei in light blue, and nucleoli in dark blue. Blood vessels are highlighted in red.<br \/>\nThe neuron on the left has a large dendrite whose diameter decreases as it moves away from the perikaryon.<br \/>\nIn the neuron on the right, with a pyramidal outline, an important characteristic of many neurons can be observed. Its cytoplasm has a large amount of RNA that corresponds to the endoplasmic reticulum of the cell, which in the case of neurons is also called Nissl substance or tigroid substance. Note the large number of blue\/purple clumps of various sizes in the cytoplasm.
