However, their shape can not always be clearly perceivedn in sections because they stay often very close together.<br \/>\nThe images show diagrams and photomicrographs of cross-wise and longidudinal-sectioned smooth muscle fibers.<br \/>\nNotice the central position of their nucleus, usually placed where the cell is thickest.
