In histological sections, the liver is seen as a very homogeneous organ.
The majority of its parenchyma is formed by cells called hepatocytes, responsible for most of the exocrine and endocrine functions carried out by the liver.
In successive magnifications you will better observe the structure of the liver.
This is a small magnification view of a liver section. Most of the image is occupied by hepatocytes. Some “empty” regions, highlighted in blue, are important components of the organ’s vascular and secretory structures.
