STOMACH – 1
Mucosa of the body region of the stomach.

Main characteristics:
1 – The surface of the mucosa is smooth, interrupted by small indentations highlighted in yellow. These are called gastric pits or foveolae
2 – Most of the lamina propria of the mucosal layer is occupied by gastric glands, also known as fundic glands, highlighted in blue.
3 – The muscularis mucosae (highlighted in green), composed of smooth muscle, separates the mucosal layer from the next layer – the submucosa.
