STOMACH – 4

Detail of glands in the region of the body of the stomach.
The cell population of these glands varies along the different portions of the glands. Two types of cells can be seen.
Watch in one of the glands:
1 – Parietal also called oxyntic cells (highlighted in green), which secrete HCl. They are rounded cells with spherical nuclei and their cytoplasm stains very well with acid dyes, such as eosin. They stand out due to the red color of the cytoplasm. They are placed around the next type of cell shown in this image.
2 – Mucous cells, which secrete mucus (highlighted in light blue). Their cytoplasm is slightly stained, with a bluish color, and their nuclei are strongly stained with hematoxylin.

Stomach. Staining: hematoxylim and eosin. Medium magnification.
