BLOOD CELLS
Basophil
Observe in the figure a cell whose nucleus has two lobes, which are not heavily stained.
The cytoplasm has many blue or purple Specific granules. Many granules are seen in the cytoplasm surrounding the nucleus as well as some in the cytoplasm above the nucleus.
In a white blood cell count the amount of basophils in the blood is the lowest. They are the rarest cells of a blood smears and very often no basophil is found in a smear.
